This paper argues for a new approach to negotiation classes that includes reading literary fiction to spur the creative thinking necessary to succeed in in post-graduation positions by increasing empathy and perspective taking. This method can be adopted and used in other areas of study that seek to increase empathy and perspective taking to impact problem-solving ability and critical thinking.
